Our mission here at UV Technologies is to provide cutting-edge technologies for users of UV curables while continuing product development, and insuring knowledgeable, friendly technical assistance and laboratory support.

What is UV Cure?

UV curable coatings, inks, and adhesives cross-link by reactions initiated by UV radiation. Two types of polymerization reactions are used in UV curing: free radical and cationic initiated chain-growth polymerization.

.

In free radical coatings, inks, and adhesives, free radicals are photogenerated by UV radiation initiating polymerization by adding to vinyl double bonds. The reaction occurs in less than a second and is complete after exposed to UV radiation.

.

In cationic coatings, inks, and adhesives, UV radiation generates cations, which initiate the polymerization of vinylether double bonds. Polymerization of the coating, ink, or adhesive continues after UV exposure until the polymer is completely cross-linked.

Advantages of UV Cure

*Cure Speeds for UV Cureable Coatings Range From 30 fpm to 600 fpm

*No Volatile Organic Components - VOC's are not used in the production of our UV coatings.

*Less Energy and Space is required to Cure UV Coatings

*95-100% Transfer Efficiencies - there is very little waste when using UV Coatings.

*Hard and Abrasion Resistant - UV Coatings can be designed to be resistant to maring.

*UV Coatings are the Preferred Coatings for Heat Sensitive Substrates

*Recent advantages of UV Cure include LED Technology further reducing power consumption by 65% and reducing heat for heat sensitive substrates.
